Datatel, a leading provider of fully-integrated information management
systems, is offer four scholarships to outstanding students who attend an
eligible college or university. Both full-time and part-time students
(taking at least six credit hours/term) are encouraged to apply.
The William B. Ruggles Right to Work Journalism Scholarship is available to
undergraduate and graduate students majoring in journalism or a related
field. This scholarship is based upon scholastic ability and interest in the
work of the Institute. You must demonstrate potential to successful complete
an accredited journalism program and also submit an essay to be eligible for
this award.
The Farmers Insurance Group Emerging Scholars Program, administered by the
UNCF, will provide financial assistance to college students who are enrolled
full-time in an accredited, United Negro College Fund (UNCF) institution or
a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

achieving your goals. To that end, Xerox established the Technical Minority
Scholarship Program.
This program seeks to recognize outstanding young people who are promoting
American values on college campuses. The scholarships are designed to
alleviate the financial burdens associated with higher education, permitting
the winners to devote more time both to pursuing their academic goals and
advancing their leadership initiatives.
Our scholarships winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and
economically diverse, but they share these qualities: Ambition and drive;
Determination to set and reach goals; Respect for self, family and
community; and Ability to succeed in college.
Writer's Digest is now accepting entries in the 9th Annual Short Short Story
Competition. We're looking for fiction that's bold, brilliant - but brief.

This grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate
study to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and
who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics,
technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to
national security.
The Dorothy Harris Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of Dr.
Dorothy Harris, pioneer and advocate for women in sports. Its goal is to
assist women graduate students pursuing one of the following fields of
study: Physical Education, Sport Management, Sport Psychology or Sport
Sociology.
The National Housing Endowment administers scholarship programs for graduate
and undergraduate students studying residential construction and related
fields. These scholarships are for students looking to become a builder,
contractor, specialty contractor, project supervisor, warranty manager,
estimator, purchasing agent, job foreman, site supervisor, inspector,
project coordinator, or a project planner.
This program will provide students with scholarships for a year-long
exploration of the problem of diversity and culture. The program, will
address significant issues and challenges confronting emerging leaders who
must negotiate the difficult matters of tolerance, respect, and appreciation
of difference.
The Siemens Foundation, in partnership with the College Board, established
the Siemens Competition. The Competition promotes excellence by encouraging
students to undertake individual or team research projects in science,
mathematics, engineering, and technology or in combinations of these
disciplines.
This program was established by Drs. Bill and Camille Cosby at the
University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television.
Unaffiliated with USC, the Hanks-Miller Program is geared toward increasing
the pool of qualified African-American writers in the entertainment
industry.
United Negro College Fund and Disney are offering two scholarships for

attend a UNCF college or university, and have an interest in the arts, hotel
hospitality, or communications.

(Summer Opportunities for Students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 for school year 2010/2011)
The Bowie State University-Future STEM Scholars (BSU-FSS) Program is open PGCPS students who will be entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade in the fall of 2010. The purpose of BSU-FSS program is to provide PGCPS middle school students with exposure and experiences in science and math on a college campus. The BSU-FSS will be held July 7, 2010 through July 21, 2010 on Bowie State University's campus. Participants are required to live on campus and they are expected to abide by all of the program rules and guidelines for the duration of the program. (Summer opportunities for PGCPS students entering grade 10 for school year 2010/2011)
The Bowie State University-Pre- College Science Scholars Academy (BSU-PCSSA) is open to PGCPS students who will be entering the 10th grade in the Fall of 2010. The purpose of BSU-PCSSA is to provide PGCPS high school students with college prep and opportunities for undergraduate credit in science courses on a college campus. The BSU-PCSSA will be held June 26, 2010 through July 31, 2010 on Bowie State University's campus. Participants are required to live on campus and they are expected to abide by all of the program rules and guidelines for the duration of the program. All of the opportunities mentioned above are funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) called the Minority Student Pipeline, Math Science Partnership (MSP)2. (MSP)2 is a five year grant from the NSF that partners PGCPS with the University of Maryland System (USM), Bowie State University (BSU), Prince George's Community College (PGCC), University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) and the University of Maryland, Biotechnology Institute (UMBI). The purpose of this grant is to strengthen the partnerships among participating institutions in order to establish a pipeline that exposes, encourages and facilitates PGCPS students to follow a course of study toward a STEM career.
